Womxn/Trans/Femme Maker Lab: Weaving with Recycled Materials

Womxn/Trans/Femme Maker Lab: Weaving with Recycled Materials

Please join us for Womxn Trans Femme Maker Labs, which are open and inclusive events designed to center the creative and critical work of self-identified women, trans, and femme makers, artists, scientists, engineers, designers, and learners within the UofA and Tucson community. Each monthly workshop is unique and materials and tools will be provided to registered participants via project kits; attendees are welcome to bring a project of their own to work on and get help during this time as well.

This month, CATalyst Studios will provide attendees with our popular weaving kit; it includes a laser cut loom, engraved comb and several feet of cotton string. This kit allows users to create a small tapestry using recycled material while learning several weaving techniques. Everyone is encouraged to bring additional materials of their choosing such as plastic bags, old t-shirts, yarn, string, or other items that can be "woven" that can be found at home. We will demonstrate how to turn old t-shirts and plastic bags into "yarn" during the workshop. Those in attendance will be able to ask questions about the kit and share your creations with the group. Please visit the UAL Main Library the week of this event and show your registration email to receive your kit.

Upon registration, you will receive Zoom login information for the virtual WTF Maker Lab.
