LLMs for Everyone: Data Science and Coding for All Majors

This workshop introduces Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications in data science, regardless of a student's major or coding experience.

Here are some key points about LLMs and the workshop:

  • What are LLMs? LLMs are a type of artificial intelligence that can understand and generate human-like text. They are trained on vast amounts of data which allows them to perform diverse tasks, such as writing stories and answering questions.
  • Relevance to Data Science: LLMs can transform data science by automating repetitive coding tasks, helping to write cleaner and more efficient code, extracting insights from unstructured data like text and social media, and making data analysis more accessible to individuals with limited coding skills.
  • Target Audience: The workshop is designed for college students of any major who are interested in the applications of AI in their fields. It is suitable for beginners and those with/without coding experience, and participants will learn how LLMs can be used for data handling and analysis.
  • Workshop Curriculum: Participants will learn the fundamentals of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and their history, what LLMs are and their potential in data science, and the practical applications of LLMs for coding and data tasks.
