Web-based Storytelling: An Introduction to ArcGIS StoryMaps

Web-based Storytelling: An Introduction to ArcGIS StoryMaps

This workshop is being offered in collaboration between the Data Cooperative and the Digital Borderlands Program.

Tell your story with data and multi-media platform: ArcGIS StoryMaps.

Description:

Want to make a map that will help you share the stories being uncovered through your research and make them accessible to a broader audience? Want to give your students an opportunity to engage with spatial thinking and work on an exciting digital project? ArcGIS StoryMaps allows you to weave an inspiring and interactive narrative by combining text, maps, and multimedia content – images, videos, and embeds – to communicate information through engaging and user-friendly web mapping applications.

Who Should Attend:

No GIS experience necessary. Open to anyone curious or interested in learning more about the ArcGIS StoryMaps platform and how they might use it in teaching, learning or research.

Technical requirements:

This is a virtual workshop. All hands-on work will be web browser-based.

About:

The Data Cooperative is Library-based hub of data support services and resources for the UA faculty, staff, and student community. We aim to help individuals build capacity and foster interdisciplinary connections to solve research problems relating to data management, data science, visualization, and geospatial applications.

Digital Borderlands is a three-year grant project funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Our goal is to produce and disseminate new, open-access humanities scholarship on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands by integrating library services into a collaborative research process that emphasizes data-intensive, digital storytelling.
