The Investigative Researcher’s Toolkit

The Investigative Researcher’s Toolkit

This workshop introduces participants to the mindset and skills of investigative research. Participants will utilize University of Arizona Library resources and external tools to answer a complex research question as part of a case study. We will follow an information trail across archives, books, films, and digital correspondence, learning to navigate both discoveries and dead ends. While completing the case study, students will work with organized research folders of public filings, media coverage, and archival materials on Zotero and Scrivener. We will practice asking sharper questions, fact checking sources, and weaving scattered materials into narratives. Participants will leave with a toolkit of resources and strategies to support investigative work in a variety of disciplines. Anyone looking to learn or fine-tune investigative research skills is welcome.
