Beyond the hype: Critically navigating GenAI in teaching FLC

GenAI is impacting many aspects of teaching and learning; but is it inevitable? How do we engage in thoughtful pedagogy and learner-centered care while managing GenAI rapid adoption in higher education institutions? In this Faculty Learning Community (FLC) we will collaboratively explore how to find agency over GenAI’s impacts on student learning, teaching labor, concerns over plagiarism, and policy implications. Participants will leave this semester-long FLC with access to an established community; teaching plans and activities that allow for flexible, critical perspectives on GenAI in the classroom; and an expanded lexicon for discussing the complexities of the current AI landscape. Open to faculty, staff, and graduate students interested in intersections of critical pedagogy and AI literacy.

Participants must register through UCATT's system to attend, which opens August 31, 2026. This FLC has a cap of 18. All meetings will take place on Zoom, and the link will be shared after registration.
